Hardware Engineer III

Job Description

Reporting to the R&D director, the hardware designer will be responsible for developping electronic circuits for railroad and industrial product lines. The hardware designer will be involved in all product design phases, including but not limited to: requirements, product architecture, electronic design activities (schematic, layout, validation), certification, release product to production and documentation.


Responsibilities :

• Participate in product requirement definition
• Participate in product architecture
• Provide electronic hardware development schedule
• Design electronic circuit for railroad and industrial application (schematic, layout)
• Work with external layout subcontractor during PCB layout phase.
• Board bring up and prototype validation
• Perform product validation against applicable standard (ESD, EMI/EMC, vibration, drop, etc.)
• Design production Test jig
• Write low level Code (C programming ) for board validate.
• Write design documentation.
• Provide updates on project status and technological changes to the design team.
• Provide support and assistance to project team as needed.


• Experience with industrial product design

• Experience with Altium designer Schematic and Layout
• Experience with board bring up and debugging.
• Experience with PADs (asset)
• C programming and low level driver
• Experience with ARM microcontrollers, SDRAM, FLASH, JTAG
• Experience with product certification and test (ESD, EMI/EMC, vibration, drop test, Environmental)
• Experience in safety product design such as IEC61508 (asset)
• Excellent communication skills
• Works well in a Team environment and guides the team as the “expert” in a particular field.
• Personal computer skills such as Microsoft Office.
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups
• Ability to work with management to establish project Milestones, but otherwise executes project plan with little supervision required.
• Ability to work toward defined objectives with little direct supervision
• Demonstrated understanding of new product development processes and work flow
• Demonstrated experience in participating on multi-disciplinary product development teams
• Good knowledge of a particular technical area within the job responsibility.
